Jul 16, 2019 The real challenge is to set up iMessage on multiple devices. Chances are you’ll run into some sort of chaos and fiasco at some point. I see this happening quite frequently. There are certain tiny little things to take care while setting up iMessage on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and iPod Touch. Part 2: Steps to Set Up iMessage on Mac without iPhone. Within a few easy steps iMessage can be set up on any Mac. The advantage of setting up messages for Mac is that you are able to synced with all of the communication on iPhone or iPad through iMessage. Because of this, you have no worry about data mess.

• Make sure that your device has the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
• If you're using an Apple device that's not an iPhone, make sure that you're signed in to iMessage with your Apple ID.

Types of group text messages

There are three types of group messages that you might see: group iMessage, group MMS, and group SMS. The Messages app automatically chooses the type of group message to send based on settings, network connection, and carrier plan. For example:

• If you and your recipients are using Apple devices and iMessage is turned on, then the group message is sent as an iMessage.
• If you send a group message to people who aren't using iMessage, then the message is sent as an MMS or SMS message.

Group iMessage

These messages appear in blue text bubbles. They go through Apple instead of your carrier, and are protected by end-to-end encryption. In a group iMessage, everyone can:

• Send and receive photos, videos, and audio messages
• See all responses from the group
• Send and receive message effects, like sketches, animations, bubble effects, and more
• Share their location with the group
• Give the group a name, add or remove people from the group, mute notifications, or leave the group

Group MMS

These messages appear in green text bubbles and go through your carrier instead of Apple. In a group MMS, everyone can:

• Send and receive photos and videos
• See all responses from the group
• Mute notifications

Group SMS

These messages also appear in green text bubbles and go through your carrier. Group SMS messages don’t support multimedia attachments, like photos or videos. All responses in a Group SMS are sent as individual text messages and the recipients can’t see the other responses from the group.

Send a group text message

1. Open Messages and tap the Compose button .
2. Enter the names or tap the Add button to add people from your contacts.
3. Type your message, then tap the Send button .

To send a group MMS message on an iPhone, make sure MMS Messaging is turned on. Go to Settings > Messages and turn on MMS Messaging. If you don’t see an option to turn on MMS Messaging or Group Messaging, contact your carrier to see if your plan supports Group MMS Messaging.

Very important

Do note for you to send a iMessage you will and the person you are contacting will need to have a iPhone or other iOS device that supports iMessages.

iMessages can only be sent between Apple devices so bear that in mind before proceeding.

How to Setup iMessage?

To enable the iMessage feature you will need to go ahead and turn the feature on or activate it if its not already activated.

1.Go to settings.

2.Select messages.

3.At the top of the screen make sure the toggle beside iMessage is turned on.

4.You will have to wait until its activated if its the first time. Be warned that your carrier may charge you to activate. Once activated you should see a number or email beside send & receive.

Add Imessage Account

5.If necessary click send & Receive and and you will be able to choose weather to use your number or email to send or receive messages.

Please Note:

1.You can send iMessages over WiFi or your smartphone data network.

2.Once the other party has a iPhone you can simply text them and if you have iMessages on and they do as well they will be able to send text, Images and voice notes over imessage.

3.Text that are in green are your regular texts. Text in Blue are iMessage texts and in both cases grey is the color of the other party texts.
